About three out of four women experience period pain-also known as dysmenorrhea, and every one out of 10 women experiences severe cramps which interfere with their daily lives .To help you get through the monthly visit, here are some natural remedies that ease menstrual cramps.
1. Stop smoking and drinking alcohol.
Cigarettes and alcohol may increase your risk of period pain.
2. Limit caffeine.
Caffeine can constrict blood vessels, which can cause cramps. Women who have menstrual pain should avoid caffeinated beverages like coffee, tea, chocolate and cola.
3. Get moving.
Regular aerobic exercise (three to four times a week) help your body keep away menstrual cramps. Gently bend and stretch your body during period will help to ease the heavy, bloated feeling.
4. Apply heat.
Place a heating pad or hot water bottle on your lower back or abdomen. Taking a warm bath may also provide some relief.
Light circular massage around your lower abdomen may help to reduce the period pain.
6. Make sure you’re getting enough vitamin D.
Prevention is always better than the cure, which is why making sure your body has enough vitamin D is important in preventing menstrual cramps. A study found that high doses of vitamin D3 led to a significant decrease in menstrual cramps.
